Installing Documentation Sherlock Search Plugin

Sherlock is a search plugin method first proposed by Apple, and you can learn more about it at http://mycroft.mozdev.org/deepdocs/deepdocs.html.

A search engine plugin allows you to access a search engine directly from your browser. In Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer 7 you use the search bar at the top right. Microsoft appears to prefer the term Search Provider but there is no difference in function. Sherlock search plugins are supported by Mozilla, SeaMonkey and Ibrowse for the Amiga. There are also tools to add search capability to right click menus and other locations. If you want to know more, read the documentation.

A list of known PageStream Sherlock Search Plugins can be seen at the Mycroft project website at http://mycroft.mozdev.org/download.html?name=pagestream.org. The Mycroft project provides a collection of Sherlock & OpenSearch Search Engine Plugins (13761 at the last count) for your web browser.
